CHANGES & MERGER

Hello! I'm currently in the process of merging my 3 sites to make it easier for me to keep everything up.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but it'll be better in the long run.

Tour: BACKWARD COMPATIBLE by Sarah Daltry & Pete Clark‏ #Excerpt #Giveaway

Not too long ago,
in a town that,
depending on your current location,
is either not super far
or actually quite close…

It is a time of chaotic hormones.
Two nerdy gents
home for winter break
have discovered a female gamer
at a midnight release.

During the break,
the gamer trio manages
to reveal the game’s secret boss,
a hidden enemy
with enough power to destroy
anything in its path.

Pursued by other gamers
who want to be the first
to beat this boss,
George and Katie race to level up,
and, in so doing, restore decency
and sexual activity to their personal galaxy…

“These graphics suck,” George says and I look back at the screen. We’re standing in the middle of the Estate, colorful orbs quivering ahead of us. We each have to choose our starting advantage. Waterfalls shimmer in the distance and the sunlight streams over multicolored stones in the courtyard.

“Amateurs,” Lanyon concurs. “I mean, they couldn’t have five waterfalls?”

“Your ironic wit is mind blowing, but choose your damn orbs,” I tell them. I consider. Magic, defense, offense, stealth, and charisma. I always go for magic as a black mage, but I wonder if a druid needs something else. Screw it. I need charisma in real life, too.

“Charisma?” Lanyon asks. “No one ever picks charisma.”

“We’re a party of a thief, druid, and a bard. We’re screwed regardless.”

“You two underestimate the mighty power of my lute,” George argues.

“Did you start with charisma?” Lanyon asks.

“Hell, no. I have charisma in spades. I started with stealth.”

“Great. A stealthy bard,” I sigh.

“She’s right,” Lanyon concedes. “We’re screwed.”

However, it actually isn’t bad at all at first. We power through the Estate and make it to the Yobanaria Dale with no resurrections and all at level ten. I’m impressed. George hasn’t actually fought anything, but he has some pretty awe-inspiring charm mastery already. I think I might have a serious crush. He seals the deal when he buffs my hailstorm spell without even being asked.

“Can you guys watch El Thiefelo? My mom wants me to eat supper,” Lanyon says.

“Yeah, we’ve got it,” I tell him. “The first boss is in the elven ruins anyway, so we should grind a bit. I think he’s a twelve.” George and I explore the Dale, taking out bats and Joba spores. It’s fairly quiet, except for when we combo with his charms and my spells and he yells out, “Eat lute, bitch,” but it’s nice. We work well, almost inherently understanding each other. I’ve never been able to play this effectively with anyone. I try not to think about his eyes. Stupid boys, being cute and stuff.

By the time Lanyon comes back, we’re all at level 12, although Lanyon leveled up just by standing by a door while we played. Still, we are ready to take on Balsa the Proud. As a black mage, it took me about nine seconds. Trees don’t like fire. However, druids don’t have the same level of black magic and all elemental magic is weakened by the need to draw from the elements nearby. Sadly, trees seem to avoid storing fire runes in their villages. I expect this to be a little more challenging. It might even take fifteen seconds.

“First boss. Also known as the freebie bitch to sucker the young folks into a false sense of security,” Lanyon announces as he runs into the center of Balsa’s lair. The cinema plays and then, in a moment of pure absurdity, El Thiefelo is squished as Balsa steps on him.

“Can someone revive me?” Lanyon whines.

Would you spend ten days traveling the country with someone you despised if he promised to pay off your student loans?

Recent college graduate, Harper Leigh, can barely make ends meet working as the books editor for a new online entertainment magazine, Chatter. With $85,000 of student loan debt about to go into repayment, she has no idea how she’ll get by.

Just when she thinks things couldn’t get worse, Harper’s boss decides to embed her in the North American tour for the hot rock band, Always Rayne. Ten days on the road with the band for her to get an exclusive story. But Harper’s a homebody and the last thing she wants to do is go on the road with a rock band. And she definitely doesn’t want to spend ten days with the notorious bad boy and band front man, Nic Rayne.

When Nic proves to be too much for Harper to handle and she threatens to quit the assignment, Nic decides to sweeten the pot. If she stays with the tour for all ten days, he’ll pay off all of her student loan debt….but there’s one small catch.

Harper also has to sleep in his bed every night.

I absolutely enjoyed ALWAYS RAYNE. The way that Harper and Nic go back and forth was entertaining. They have these really great witty sparring matches. It takes Nic a while to wear down Harper's walls, but once she gives him a chance, they are great together. I also really loved the supporting characters that we will get to see more of in the next books in this series. I'm really looking forward to it.

4 Sniffs Review: HE FOUND ME by Whitney Barbetti #Giveaway

Title: He Found Me
Series: He Found Me #1
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance

ASIN: B00KEPNQXY
Release Date: May 17, 2014
Source: Girls Heart Book Tours ☆ Tour Schedule

When I was seventeen, I disappeared. I walked out the door of my apartment with a backpack and never looked back. I left the life of Cora Mitchell behind, seeking freedom from my real-life nightmare.

But my freedom came with a cost. I lived a fictitious life for the next six years, never letting anyone close enough to see underneath the façade that was Andra Walker.

I was content with my simple little life.

Until I met Julian.

And the moment I started allowing myself to open up, allowing someone to see through the superficial, was the very same moment the Monster from my past would return to find me.

THE GIST: It's been 7 years since Andra Walker left the Monster and her old life behind. She's now living and working on a friend's ranch in Colorando. Even with the threat of the Monster finding her again, she's happy with the life she's built. The only thing she doesn't like is the lies that she needs to tell people. She never thought anything was missing from life until she met Julian Jameson, an author staying at the ranch for the next month. What starts as a casual thing quickly develops into a deep love for each other. But the past is never far and Andra will have to choose if she's going to keep running or stand and fight back.

WHAT I LIKED: Andra is a character that I really liked and she's very easy to relate to. Not necessarily the circumstances, those can only be related to if you've gone through the same thing, but how she handled and overcame those circumstances so create her own life. I also really liked Julian. I thought that he was a really good match for Andra. They challenge each other in the best ways. I liked how the story is like a mystery within a mystery. There are so many questions still left unanswered, and I'm really wanting the next book to see what happens next. The title of the book has a double meaning that I didn't really see until closer to the end of the book, and then when I finally got the double meaning I thought that it was really cleaver.

WHAT I DISLIKED: You know, I honestly can't think of anything that I didn't like about HE FOUND ME.

Andra: Before, Andra was Cora Mitchell, but after her mother's death and years of sexual abuse by her uncle, she made her escape with Six's help and became Andra Walker. She guards her heart closely and doesn't do relationships, because she knows that she'd never be able to be honest with the one she's with. She loves her life on the ranch and doesn't plan to leave it any time soon. Somehow Julian makes his way through all of her defenses and she finds herself falling for him.

Julian: A mystery writer who is staying at the ranch for a month while his house is being remodeled to write his next book. He is instantly attracted to Andra and they start a casual relationship relatively quick. He's very observant and sees Andra better than she would like.

Six: An old friend of Andra's mother. He's the one that helped Andra escape from the Monster. He's like an older brother to Andra.

Rosa: A mother figure for Andra. She's also a really good friend of Andra's. She is one of the only two people who know Andra's past. She's the owner of the ranch.

Dylan: The head ranch hand. He and Andra had a night together years ago, but now they are just really good friends.

Sexual abuse is a terrible thing to experience, but I think that it's even worse when it's done to you by a relative, someone who is supposed to protect and care for you. The Monster is only related to Andra through marriage and there are a lot of things involved that even Andra doesn't know. Her mother's death is now suspect and there is mention of a lot of mony involved. I'm looking forward to seeing the bigger picture.

9 days. That is how long Andra and Julian have known each other. Their relationship starts out as a casual arrangement, but as they get to know each other, deep feelings start to develop. Though they've only been together for 9 days, as I was reading it felt like a lot longer. I really liked that even though it was such a short time, there was a natural flow to their relationship that made the 9 days seems like months or even years. Andra's situation made for a feeling a possible heartbreak ever present. Toward the end, I was really worried that something terrible was going to happen. Andra and Julian compliment each other so well and I was hoping with everything I had that they could make it work. The next book is really going to show us how strong their love for each other really is. I'm really excited.

Never before has he wanted anything this much. It destroys his plans of living for his career and not getting involved with a woman. Sex once and let go. No ties, no tomorrows. That’s how he operates. Add to that his uncontrollable desire for revenge and he’s one messed up dude.

Harrison hates change. But there’s absolutely nothing he can do to stop it. He’s in too deep already.

Is Eva the beauty who can tame the beast?

The one who can Unchain His Heart?

Quick Sniff Review: TUR by S.T. Bende

Title: Tur
Series: The Elsker Saga #0.5
Author: S.T. Bende
Genre: New Adult, Fantasy, Paranormal, Romance, Mythology
Publisher: S.T. Bende
ASIN: B00K5DRHOE
Release Date: May 5, 2014

Inga Andersson is the envy of every girl in Asgard. On the surface she has it all -- great friends, a job as Odin’s personal fight choreographer, and a happy ever after with her realm’s hottest assassin. But when evil invades Asgard, her perfect world comes crashing down. Someone is planning to kill off the gods, and Inga’s best friend Ull is first on their list. With the Norse apocalypse a nanosecond away, Inga has to decide how she’ll spend her final moments of freedom. Because from the moment this battle begins, Inga’s happily ever after will be nothing more than a memory.

Some things are worth fighting for.

Inga Andersson has everything a goddess could ask for - a loving husband in Gunnar and a best friend in Ull, who are both among the top warriors of Asgard - except for the job she really wants. She is an accomplished fight choreographer and battle tactician, but she wants to be a warrior - to actually use her strategies herself. When dark elves attack Asgard, Inga sees her opportunity to protect Asgard as well as her best friend, Ull who has become a target himself. But Inga isn't the only one who is getting a raw deal. Ull has retired from fighting, but his grandfather Odin orders him to postpone his duties as God of Winter and take up the mantle of God of War, just for the duration of the battle with the invading dark elves. When all is said and done, Inga is still denied her request for the title of warrior and Odin wants Ull to continue as God of War. Inga suggests to Ull and Gunnar that they go on vacation to Midgard, to get away and wait for Ull's destined soul mate, Kristia Tostenson.

So I am a HUGE fan of S.T. Bende's Elsker Saga, so I was really excited to get the chance to read this prequel. TUR shows us the events that eventually lead to Inga, Gunnar, and Ull coming to Midgard. We see Inga's struggle to be recognized as the warrior that she is and we get to see more of the dynamics of her marriage to Gunnar. We can also see the depth of Ull's loneliness and his hopefullness with the arrival of Kristia in Wales. The end of TUR seriously left me choked up with tears in my eyes. Ull is such a sweetheart and we really see that at the end when he learns when Kristia is arriving. I also loved seeing Inga's love for Ull and her determination to see him with Kristia. Inga and Gunnar are the greatest of friends that Ull could ask for. I just really loved seeing the depths within their relationship. This is a group of friends that I think anyone would hope to have. Inga, Gunnar, and Ull are just awesome and I love them to pieces.

All Beatriz “Bia” Fernandes wants is to prove herself—to her family and friends—though it’s hard to prove anything with an overbearing father and three famous polo-playing older brothers. After her acceptance into college results in a heated family argument, the Brazilian girl leaves everything behind to find her own American dream.

College life away from home is perfect until the people she believes to be her friends turn on her. With lies and rumors threatening to suffocate her, Bia turns to her only freedom. Riding.

But one thing gets in the way of her escape. Garrett Blackwell and his bad cowboy attitude. Working at the ranch is his obligation, bugging Bia is his newfound hobby. His thick skin and easy grin don’t hide what Bia already knows—this misunderstood and lonely cowboy fights his own demons. Brushing horses’ coats and mucking out stalls shouldn’t be this sexy, and it isn’t long before he becomes a part of her distraction.

However, escaping won’t solve her problems, and it’s up to Bia to break down the fences around her and prove her strength—not to her family and friends, but to herself … and for Garrett. Because standing on her own doesn’t have to mean standing alone.

** Companion novel of Breaking the Reins. Can be read out of order **

BREAKING FENCES brings us Bia's story about finding the ability to stand tall by her own strength. She steps out of her family's limelight and learns to shine on her own. Through all this self-discovery there are mean girls, hot guys, and her love for horses. BREAKING FENCES is a New Adult book that anyone can relate to. Just like the first book in the series, Bia's story was hard to put down, so it's best to just hunker down and take the journey with her.
